Abortion and magic fairy-dust

20 week old pre-born baby

It seems to me that “pro-choice”, pro-abortion people believe in a magic baby-fairy that sprinkles magic baby-dust on the “fetus” as it passes through the birth canal magically transforming it into a proper baby.

Sanctity of life

Every year, in South Africa, we lose more pre-born babies to abortion than the combined death toll of crime and car accidents.

Abortion is a national shame; it scars mothers and fathers, and is a great sin towards God.

Simply fetal tissue?

At 7 weeks a baby is about 1.25 centimetres long, the size of a chick pea. The baby has distinct, slightly webbed fingers and toes. He or she is like a jumping bean, moving in fits and starts. The liver is churning out large amounts of red blood cells until the bone marrow forms and takes over this role.   The teeth and palate are forming, while the ears continue to develop. The baby’s skin is paper-thin, and veins are clearly visible.

Most pro-choice people argue for abortion under the banner of “Women’s Health”.

I’m definitely not against women’s health, as long as “Women’s Health” is for the body of the woman in question, and does not cause the life of another pre-born body to be devoid of health.

Car seats

Abortion is legal up to 20 weeks in South Africa.

If the mother is more than 20 weeks pregnant, she can get the abortion if her or the baby’s life is in danger or there are likely to be serious birth defects.  Up to 13 weeks a woman in South Africa needs not give any reason for the abortion.

Safe baby car seats are by law required for born babies, but unborn babies are to fend for themselves?

“Safe Abortion clinics”

Marie Stopes advertises different abortion services:

“The first is the abortion pill which uses tablets to terminate a pregnancy. The first set of tablets is taken orally in the clinic and the second set is taken later at home. Early surgical abortion (4-12 weeks) involves a gentle suction method, which the nurse will use to remove the pregnancy from the uterus. This is a very quick and simple procedure that takes less than 5 minutes. The Surgical abortion (12- 20 weeks) is a surgical procedure where the pregnancy is removed vaginally; it is performed by a doctor.”

A couple of observations:

Terminate a pregnancy” and “remove the pregnancy” are very dispassionate terms for “ending a life” or “killing a baby”.

A gentle suction method” is obviously from the medical practitioner’s view point, not the baby’s.

Surgical procedure” sounds more like having a mole removed than dismembering and removing a baby from the supposedly safe womb.

No magic baby-dust

Most people get very upset when babies are abused, beaten, burnt or harmed in any way.

Why is it acceptable that babies are legally murdered while still in the womb?

Do many reasonable and rational adults believe in magic fairy-dust?

I’m beginning to think they must.

A prayer

Oh Father, our hearts are heavy when we think of abortion, when we think of unborn babies created in your image being murdered.

We pray for mothers and fathers, many of whom may be in desperate circumstances, causing them to consider abortion.

Oh Lord God, please intervene and use us as your church to make a real difference.

Help us to love all mothers, help us to support adoption, fostering, safe house and orphanages, help us to demonstrate Christ’s love in very practical ways.

Please bring an end to abortion in our country. Please convict our citizens and lawmakers of the sanctity of life AFTER and BEFORE birth.

Amen.

You may have had an abortion.  Please know that with God there is forgiveness, hope and a fresh start.

* UPDATE 01/2019: New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, just signed a bill into law that legalizes abortion up until birth in many cases.  He has done this in the name of “Women’s Health”.  The irony of this statement is shocking. Many pre-born girl babies will now be killed in abortion clinics under the banner of “Women’s Health”.  Many New Yorkers are celebrating.*
