God has spoken!

We are familiar with the concept of a spokesman or spokesperson.  It’s a person who speaks for another person or group.

Zizi Kodwa is the South African presidential spokesmen.  What Zizi says, the SA president says.

Sean Spicer, probably has one of the worst jobs in the world, he is the current spokesperson for President Donald Trump.  Officially he is the White House Press Secretary.  What Sean Spicer says Donald Trump says.  Mr. Spicer must also explain what Donald Trump says and tweets.

Individuals and organizations have official spokesmen who speak for them or the organization.

One of the functions of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Triune God, is to be the spokesman of God.

The Holy Spirit is not The Force (The dangerous gospel of the Jehovah Witnesses)

 

The Jehovah’s Witnesses are on a massive marketing campaign in our area.  Unfortunately, the gospel that they are marketing is a false gospel that cannot save.  It is a gospel that undermines the Person of Jesus and the Person of the Holy Spirit.

The JW’s say that Jesus is not God, but a created being.  Thus, they deny the Lordship of Christ.

Not only that, they also deny the deity of the Holy Spirit.  They teach that the Holy Spirit is simply a force or influence. Therefore, they deny the Trinity that says there is one God made up of three Persons.  Christian people, however, hold to the doctrine of the Trinity, because it is taught in the Bible.

VanityFairJuly2015Bruce Jenner is a 1976 Olympic decathlon men’s event champion. He was given the unofficial title of “world’s greatest athlete” for the win and became “an American hero” by winning the event back from Soviet Union during the Cold War.  He is also an American television personality and stepfather of the Kardashian children.  In June 2015 Bruce changed his name to Caitlyn and began to refer to himself with feminine personal pronouns.  He is now described as the most famous openly transgender person in the world.  He, through surgery and hormone treatment, now believes he is a she.  He has apparently “transgendered” to become a woman.  And the world applauds his/her great courage.

Should every Christian speak in tongues? (Part 1)

pentecostMany Pentecostal traditions teach that speaking in tongues is the definitive sign of being baptized with the Holy Spirit.   This baptism or filling of the Spirit happens sometime after your conversion and is known as the “Second Blessing”.   Every Spirit-filled believer, they would argue, should therefore speak in tongues.
